“[It’s a] stunning place on earth. Love it so much.”

When thinking of the most picturesque destination in Europe, Santorini and its white washed, cliff-side villages often come to mind. In addition to breath-taking views, there is a bounty of rich Greek culture to absorb. Here are some tips to give you the most out of your Greek island experience.
WHAT TO DO
Perched on a hill, Selene offers an exquisite dining experience with spectacular views. Be treated to a gourmet meal or even be trained by the kitchen masters in their one-of-a-kind cooking classes. Take a visit to the folklore museum as well to learn about the island’s culture.
One of the island’s most famous beaches, the red-cliffed shore is worth the rocky hike. If you do plan on visiting the beach, make sure to bring the appropriate shoes and keep in mind there is no pre-existing path. Because of the beach’s smaller size, many visitors will admire from atop the cliffs. Make the trip to this part of the island into an entire day by visiting the nearby ancient Akrotiri site and spending the remainder of sunshine further down the coast on the “lunar” beach at Vlychlada.
A ferry running from Oia to Thirasia three times a day makes for an easy island hop. Once on Thirasia, strike out up the hill — the path is hard to miss. It’s steep in places, but every time you turn around, the glorious views of Santorini across the deep blue of the Caldera get more and more astonishing.
WHERE TO STAY
Set on the edge of town, Cycladic-inspired El Greco Resort & Spa overlooks the sea in the distance. Within walking distance is Fira with several interesting landmarks, including Museum of Prehistoric Thira and Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral. Access to Old Port down the steep cliff is by cable car, donkey or foot.
